Good morning all,
Just wanted to give you an update on our “Day”! We have decided to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Our theme will be the ADA and access. Our week will start on the 19th with an open Public Forum regarding accessibility at SCC. This will be facilitated by our District level ADA management. (More details will follow- but it will be held at noon. I am just not sure of the exact location.) On the 22nd we are hoping to have Joe Xavier, Deputy Director of the Department of Rehabilitation as a keynote speaker, as well as a student panel which will discuss the importance of access in college, and the ever popular canine demonstration.
I would like to add a new element to our Disability Awareness Day this year. I would like to hear from any agency which would be interested in speaking (in addition to having a table). If any of you would like to have the microphone to promote your services or describe what your agency does, I am offering that opportunity. Depending on the response, it might be as short a time as 5 minutes, or as long as a half hour. Please let me know if you are interested.
If you have not responded to me regarding your participation and the number of tables and chairs you would like, please do so ASAP. We currently have 12 respondees out of 37, so there are quite a few who have not responded.
Enjoy the spring weather!
