DISABILITY INSURANCE BENEFITS

The Social Security disability insurance program (sometimes referred to as SSDI) pays benefits to you and certain family members if you worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes. Your adult child also may qualify for benefits on your earnings record if he or she has a disability that started before age 22.

California State Disability Insurance (SDI) is a partial wage-replacement insurance plan for California workers. The SDI programs are State-mandated, and funded through employee payroll deductions. SDI provides affordable, short-term benefits to eligible workers. Workers covered by SDI are covered by two programs: Disability Insurance and Paid Family Leave Insurance.
